I heart Nancy Franklin

Her TV reviews are pretty much my favorite thing about the New Yorker. And I don’t even watch TV, except at the gym with the sound off. It doesn’t matter whether you’re ever going to see the show in question, because her writing is so smart and funny and engaging, you just want to gobble it up.

I especially liked last week’s review of the “This American Life” TV show. Even though she speaks semi-glowingly of Garrison Keillor (egads!). That’s how mature I am: Nancy and I don’t have to agree on everything.

John Updike’s review of the new Edith Wharton biography is worth reading too.
