It is WAY too big!

I’m talking about the backpack I just bought for Lappy. You see, now that I have a job (is it a job if I don’t get paid for like a year?) I have to carry him, along with a pile of books about the Aztecs, the Incans, the Holy Roman Empire and imperial Spain wherever I go, if wherever=the library, which is the only place I can work. (Except for now, when I am writing this stupid thing instead of working. Thanks, blog!)
The tote bag I got in Rio wasn’t cutting it, heavy-load-wise. So today I went to J&R and discovered that every single computer backpack on the market is designed for a husky six-foot-tall man. Thanks, world of design! I finally picked out the Kensington Contour Traveler with DropShield Protection. It’s designed for a husky six-foot-tall man who goes through airport security a lot, and cannot on his own figure out what to stow in the pockets, which are are illustrated with pictograms of a cellphone, passport, pen, and so on. Really. In fact, they are called Purpose-Built™ pockets. Thanks, world of idiocy!
I bought it because it’s endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association.

NOTE: ITEM MUCH, MUCH LARGER THAN PICTURED
I wore it out of the store and I almost fell over. And everybody was laughing at me as I walked to the subway. I stopped in the Wendy’s on 14th to get a snack and nearly knocked over all the stanchions while I waited on line. Whoops. But it sure is super-comfy on my back, and all my stuff fits inside it.
