It’s BLIND ITEM time!

WHICH lion of American letters wrote the following sentence, which makes me want to claw my eyes out?

Laura’s face was as sweet as ever, her breasts were as full as ever, and who could question that her heart was in the right place?

And also inexplicably–and repeatedly!–refers to sex as “intercourse.” In the third person! So it’s not like it’s about some creepy-clinical first person voice. IT MAKES NO SENSE.

Dear David Gates–whose mind and taste I hold in highest regard!–WHY is Roth “everybody’s daddy”??? Explain it to me.
